About Jill
I emphasize a well-rounded, organic approach to learning the horn. I believe context in learning is incredibly important, so you can expect to focus not only on the mechanics of playing, but also ear-training, history, basic harmony, etudes, solos, and orchestral excerpts. A specific routine is tailored for each student based on their needs.
Masters degree from New England Conservatory
One of my favorite things to do in college and grad school was to be pulled into a practice room by a peer to listen to them play something and then coach them on it. Those small coaching experiences laid the groundwork for starting my own studio after school.
I have a bachelors and masters degree in Music Performance from New England Conservatory. I have been teaching lessons since 2003. Recently I completed the Performance Psychology for Educators course with Noa Kageyama of Bulletproof Musician

I ask several intake questions that I ask either before we meet, or at the first lesson. Typical questions are about playing goals, motivation for seeking lessons, past experience, available resources, equipment, and availability
I have worked with a wide variety of ages from 9 years old to adults in their retirement. I have worked with people starting from the very beginning including learning to read music, to people preparing college auditions.
Look for someone that can communicate clearly with you, that understands your goals and will help guide you in the right direction.
