About Cedric

As a native speaker and having lived in France nearly my entire life, my students benefit from the true experience. They will have the opportunity to learn not only the language and the actual pronunciation of words but a multitude of facts about the culture that will give them an edge, whether it's for school, while traveling abroad or simply showing off their new skills.

Sharing my knowledge and experiences with people that truly want to improve their language skills has always been a passion of mine.

The sheer amount of people seeking help with languages is simply amazing and if I can help even a small portion of them, then I feel like I have accomplished my mission.

When I was living in France, I would help out some of my friends during their teaching classes. For the most part, it was about design, since it is my background. In those classes, there happen to be a few foreign students that had a hard time with french. They would fall a little behind every time and I fell like I could do something to help them out.

One day, my friend and I decided to split the class into two groups. He would take the french speaking students and I would take the non-french speaking ones.

The results were very promising. From there, grew my interest to teach and guide others.

First, the student expresses the areas that they need/want to improve upon prior to starting lessons. It could be done via email, phone or in-person.

I then provide a quick form to the student that goes over a few different subjects, to determine the level of proficiency. This step also helps me in assessing some areas that might not be of knowledge to the student.

Once the form is completed, we review the answers together and start discussing the structure of the program they will need to succeed. If both parties agree to work together, we then set-up a date and time for our first lesson.

Each class is typically about a new topic unless more help is needed on something particular. The goal is to make the student fluent in French as effectively as possible by providing an overall education first. Then we dive a little bit more into each subject. Students shouldn't have to go through the minutiae firsthand, learning needs to be fun and the progress quick to evaluate.

At the end of each session, a brief introduction to the next lesson is provided along with some research to do. The involvement and commitment needs to be as much on the tutor as on the student in order to succeed.

I have worked with all levels in the past, from the fluent student feeling a little rusty, to the beginner wanting to learn everything there is to know about French.

Learning a new language might seem like a daunting task at first, patience and understanding are crucial traits that you want in a teacher. Look for someone who is flexible and adapts easily to your needs so you can succeed.

Learning needs to be fun, not boring!

I enjoy every moment I have with my wife and kids, teaching them new things to say in French.

Kids, at a young age, absorb so much knowledge, so now is the time to teach their mother tongue.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
- Do you want to learn a new language or do you have to?

- What are your goals with this new language?

- What level do you want to reach?

- How soon do you want to reach it?

- How commited are you?

The price is $50/Hr for one class per week.

If the frequency is more than one class per week, the price is $65/Hr due to the fact that I would have to move some of my weekly tasks around, to accomodate tutoring sessions.
