About Marie-Pier

I am a native French speaker and I absolutely adore teaching the beautiful French language. I can help you with grammar, conjugation, prononciation, reading, writing, learning idiomatic expressions (so much fun!!), in short, any aspect of the language. I have been teaching my three daughters and in time, taught in a language school for four years and then started my own business, with conversation classes, private and group classes, and even cooking classes in French!

I have a passion for sharing this beautiful language and I look forward to finding out how I can help you on this wonderful journey.

Teaching is so rewarding and I just love to help students reach their goals! Whether it's a short term or a long term goal, I love to be part of the journey and see the progression of each of my students!

A friend of mine asked if I'd be interested in teaching French at the language school where he was taking Spanish classes. They needed a teacher right away. I had never thought about it, but decided to try for fun. Plus my background was conducive to teaching. I fell in love with teaching French and with the language itself. I continued teaching for many years after that!

I am a French native person and I have taught private and group lessons for four years in a private language school, and then taught a few more years on my own in a highly interactive classroom with hands-on activities including group conversation classes and cooking classes in addition to the more traditional curriculum (grammar, conjugation etc)

I speak French, English, Spanish, Italian and I am now learning Japanese. I love languages!

About the lesson

First , I find out what are the student's goals are and how much time they have to dedicate to the effort, for example, do they want to focus on grammar, conversation, conjugation etc.

Then we establish where (what level) they are starting from, by having a short conversation with them.

Then I put a program together to help the student learn and reach their goals.

Other than teaching my three daughters, I have taught young to older adults, beginners to advanced students, and from both English and Spanish backgrounds

When I look for a teacher/mentor, I look for a connection with the person. I want to make sure I will enjoy the person I will be working with and that I feel comfortable spending some time with them.

The favorite classes were the conversation classes and the cooking classes where everything was done in French and all my students had so much fun while learning and enjoying the fruit of their labors! We even made a photo album to capture moments from all the classes and recipes we made together!

Why do you want to learn, how much time you are willing to dedicate to the effort (on a weekly basis and over which period of time) and what are your goals and expectations in learning this new language. Also, are you willing to do homework?
