About Madeleine

I offer both group courses and private lessons for all skill levels, with curriculum that I have designed after extensive experience in teaching French and other subjects.

I am motivated above all by my enthusiasm for language, culture, and people everywhere. The most exciting experience in my career is being my students' catalyst for discovery and learning.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and French and a Master of Education in World Languages Pedagogy, both from the University of Maryland (2014 and 2019, respectively).

About the lesson

First exchanges are always via messaging (email or otherwise), even outside of Covid. I will both directly ask a student for their background in French and indirectly gauge their comfort and skill level in French. I may offer a practice assessment to further determine their level, but that's not always the case.

For private and semi-private lessons, I then work out specific goals and timeframe that the student is looking for, before beginning lessons. For group courses, I place them in the appropriate level class with students whose skills match theirs.

I work with students of all backgrounds, ages, and skill levels, including novice to native speakers.

Make sure that your teacher has 1) solid expertise in teaching, 2) at least advanced level fluency in the language they're teaching, and 3) a passion for students beyond business acumen.

Private lessons are as follows:

30 min = $15

45 min = $23

60 min = $30

Semi-private lessons are:

2 students, 60 min = $25/student

3 students, 60 min = $22/student

2 students, 90 min = $38/student

3 students, 90 min = $33/student
