About Dave

My name is Dave Frantz, and I am a full-time Teaching Professional at Heritage Harbour Golf Club in Bradenton. I am a current High School Golf Coach and a member of the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and was voted "Coach of the Year" three times. I have four decades of golf teaching and coaching experience and I guarantee I can help you reach your goals!

I have been teaching golf classes, giving clinics and running camps for over 30 years. What sets me apart is that I am a teacher in every sense of the word! Most pros have spent more time in the pro shop than they have with their students. As a (retired) professional educator, (retired) golf coach, AND a teaching professional, I can help you see, feel, and think your way to better golf - and have fun while doing it!

I am hands-on, fun, and energetic. I use the Hudl Technique video analysis, Mevo Flightscope, a wide variety of training and instruction aids, and an experienced eye to identify problems and prescribe solutions.

I really enjoy talking to my students about their games, devising a plan that is convenient, affordable, and achievable- and having fun while "working" that plan. If it isn't fun, then I'm not doing my job! Helping a player see, feel, and execute shots they have not been able to consistently produce fuels my enthusiasm. That's something I've loved since my high school (playing) days!

I was always the player in high school and college who was the "student of the game". I subscribed to the only mass-produced instruction at the time (Golf Digest and Golf Magazine) and practiced every tip/lesson in each monthly issue as soon as it came out. This habit made me the "expert" at my school, and I even gave tips to my teammates.

I have worked closely with junior players for almost 40 years. I have been a coach for 32 years, a tournament player for 40 years, and a psychology teacher for 15 years. I have worked closely with some of the best teaching pros in the game, as well as run clinics featuring these pros for 25 years. I am also certified in the Rules of Golf, and have attended rules clinics for over 25 years.

About the lesson

I like to meet for few minutes and discuss a student's history in the game, trouble areas, "favorite" clubs, etc. Above all, I want to know what he/she wants to get out of their session(s) and how I can help. For beginners, my primary goal is to make them feel at ease, and explain how I will help them play the game they want to start!

I have worked with all levels - from my brother who played on the PGA Tour and competed in 11 major championships, to fellow top amateurs in Florida, to Division I collegiate golfers, to intermediate and beginner adults in my area, to junior golfers as young as 5 years old at my summer "Champions Golf Camps". I currently have 10 talented junior golfers enrolled in my Champions Golf Academy. I also do many beginner lessons, and quite a few accomplished/return to golf lessons as well.

As I said in my bio - convenient, affordable, personable, and fun is what a student should look for.

I recently enjoyed giving a married couple a group lesson. Both are rather new to the game and it was an awesome experience for all three of us I believe. In two hours we covered the entire game of golf from grip posture and alignment to swing basics to short game – and laughed all the way through it!

Perfect! Dave is an amazing instructor. I lost my swing over the past year. I went from a 9 handicap to a 15 handicap. I contacted Dave and told him I am 65 years old and do not want to change my whole swing. I just want to get back to where I was. I took one lesson and he spotted my problem immediately and showed me how to fix it. I went from shooting 88 to 92 back to shooting 78 - 84. The guy is amazing. He is honest and friendly. I highly recommend him .
