Working with new students essentially I’m here for the student and will help with what ever they would like to work on . With Beginners I would start with the basics and gradually move into the advance stuff.
Make sure you find the right fit . Some one you can relate to and talk and listen to. It’s very hard to find the right teacher. In this business you will come across teachers that teach different philosophy . I would ask “ what’s your teaching Philosophy” . Once you do that you should be able to judge if that pro is the one for you.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out

What are you trying to accomplish with the lesson.
