About Jake

Hello!

My name is Jake and I've been playing guitar for about 10 years now. During that time, I've been able to hone my skills in a variety of different guitar styles such as rock, blues, and funk, but I'm especially great at teaching acoustic folk music!

Originally from Rochester, NY, I recieved a Bachelor's degree in Music from the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory in Cleveland, OH, where I played in a number of bands. I now live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

What really makes me stand out is the unorthodox way I learned the guitar - I'm almost entirely self taught and believe that the way a lot of teachers introduce the guitar to new students can be boring and monotonous. I'm here to making playing fun!

I also am extremely proficient in Logic Pro X, and run my own studio in my spare time in Brooklyn. If you are looking for tutorials on how to use the program/mix well, look no further!

I enjoy taking what students are already passionate about and contextualizing it with actual results. Seeing the "ah-ha!" moment with a student when they make a breakthrough never gets old! Getting over the difficulty curve with guitar can be tough, and it's all about setting the right amount of challenge without making it overwhelming.

With Logic Pro X, I just love seeing people get better mixes!
