About Jack
Experience
My name is Jack, I am 22 years old, and I have been playing guitar for about 15 years now. I am mostly self taught, but I have had a few tutors and one off lessons with multiple well established guitarists, as well as classes for Music Theory, Jazz Ensemble, and Guitar Styles, at Santa Barbara City College. I listen to music everyday and play guitar as much as I can. I’ve done Rock n Roll Fantasy Camp, was a member of the SoCal based melodic death metal band, Viminal (2022-2024) played live numerous times. So I can teach you with real world experience to better your playing for various purposes on the electric guitar. Here are some of my favorite bands/musicians. Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Nevermore, Revocation, Fallujah, Great White, Kiko Lourerio, Tony MacAlpine, Scott Carstairs, Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker, and the list goes on and on.
Learning
My focus is on beginners, and those wanting to bridge the gap from beginner, to intermediate skill level in heavy music. I can teach songs, fundamentals, technique, how to learn and approach new material, ways to practice, and methods of building speed, while also keeping music theory in mind during practice sessions. And will encourage you to learn new challenging songs to test your limits to find where you can break them and advance to a new level. Music can be seen as a language, and you need to learn new words to be able to speak your own phrases. I can do in person learning, or virtually over Zoom in the afternoon
