Jim is a great guitar teacher and has really helped helped me improve. His teaching style is great because he never makes you feel like you aren’t playing well enough. He is always very encouraging and lets me go at my own pace.

Jim is the best guitar teacher you could have. He’s more than just a guitar teacher to me and so many other friends that I know take lessons from him. From a music standpoint Jim is an absolute wizard on the guitar and has talent outlying that of many famous guitarists. However, anyone who has talent on the guitar may not be able to transfer that over to teaching and that is where Jim really shines. His ability to teach at all levels from not knowing how to hold a guitar pick to enhancing sweep picking techniques and writing your own solos is outstanding. He makes you feel very comfortable and unembarrassed of the point you are on the guitar learning curve and at the same time is very good at pushing you to learn more and fight to attain your own personal goals. Jim is a very kind and understanding person who is there for his students on more than a guitar level. He cares about each and everyone he teaches and I quickly became friends with him through taking lessons. He has so much knowledge to impart on all things music related and knows how to repair music equipment and will answer all your questions that you could have about the music industry or what equipment you should purchase to up your music game. Jim comes to all my band guitar shows either to watch and support or to help mix the sound. Jim is a very humorous guy and you’ll be sharing more than music during the lessons but many laughs and memories as well. He has a good moral compass and always available to talk during lessons as I’ve found he is someone I can tell about my week and confide in without ever worrying about him telling others. He is all around a great guy and even though it may sound like I’m describing a superhero and that what I say is too good to be true you’ll realize after a lesson or two that what I’ve said is the understatement of the year. What I’ve said here may sound like more a tribute to Jim’s great character and fun loving energetic personality than to his talent but just remember that today we can learn songs on guitar with tab in front of us and the Internet. Jim learned some of the hardest guitar songs ever written by lifting a record player needle and attempting to set it back to the right spot on the record to relisten to the difficult solo he was trying to learn as a self taught teenager. He did that and he sure as heck can teach you. Grab a lesson from me and you won’t believe how much you will excel learning from him. Jim’s the man and if you practice you’ll be making a ton of progress. Do it. You won’t regret it.

He’s an amazing teacher in person and over FaceTime. He has a great ear for tuning, phrasing, and subtle differences in the way a riff is played and communicates these to his students in a very understandable way! He is sincerely interested in his students and helping each of them reach their potential in the own unique way and has boundless musical knowledge. Recommend 10/10
