About Kevin

I have played Bass for about 18 years and I have toured all across the U.S. playing in bands or doing my solo bass act. I enjoy many genres of music but my favorites are math-rock, punk, progressive, and jazz. My teaching style can best be described as versatile, because I can show you many different styles and techniques fitting for every genre. In my lessons, you can expect to learn many different beginner to advanced Bass techniques such as finger tapping, finger plucking or strumming, slap bass, or using a pick, whatever you prefer. I will also be teaching what the notes are and where they are on the instrument, including various scales and keys. I like to tell my students that practice is vital and the best way to get better is repetition. I primarily teach Bass, but I can also teach beginner to intermediate Guitar. My approach as a teacher is to keep the student interested in playing music and continue to learn and play on their own. I also have an Associate of Arts in Music and plan on finishing and obtaining my Bachelors for Music Education as soon as possible.

I love music in general and enjoy many different styles and genres. I enjoy playing shows and discovering new local acts around Denver, as well as touring and meeting other bands across the country. I enjoy helping touring bands get shows in Denevr. I love teaching bass/music because I am always recieving some sort of knowledge in return. I also just enjoy meeting and playing with new people whether or not I am teaching or we are learning together or just messin around.

Teaching freinds and relatives at an earlier age then teaching new random people in College.

Playing Bass for 17+ years, Guitar 14+.

Played in 5+ bands.

Toured across the U.S.

Helped run shows and book bands at a DIY venue called Mouth House.

About the lesson

Asking questions to determine musical understanding and knowledge. Asking the student to perform or show me anything they might already know. Figuring out what it is they want to learn and what's most important for them to get better at.

I have typically worked with students from age 20-30 but also older age groups like 40-60. I have wanted to start working more with children but have not had as much practice.

Have list of ideas ready for what you may want to learn before lesson date, such as, songs you may want to learn, techniques you'd like help with, scales you'd like to learn or get better at, finding key, etc.

One of my favorite bands Giraffes? Giraffes!, that my band TripLip got to play with on tour in New York, just came out with a new album called Memory Lame and it is amazing.
