About Talen

I have always loved music and connecting with people through it. Wheter it be playing listening, learning, or creating with another person it's all a passion for me. I have never professionally given lessons and am branching out to give it a try. I have been playing the piano for about three years, and the guitar for two. I have a bachelors degree in show production from Full Sail University, and a year of a music degree under my belt. I very much look forward to teaching you!

I first started to teach my mom basic music theory and guitar chords. She suggested that I should get some students, and I thought that sounded like a great idea.

2 years guitar lessons

Bachelors degree in show production

Proficient in FL studio

About the lesson

First off I like to do a quick 15-20 minute interview to see what the goals of the student are, so that I can base the lessons to meet their needs and skill level. Then I like to go over the parts of the guitar if needed (varies case by case). Then I will move on to proper pick and fretting techniuqe. Lastly I will show them the minor pentatonic scale so that they have something that sounds good that they can practice at home.

I have only taught family members and friends.

Make sure that your teacher is willing to teach how you want to learn. Don't get discouraged after a few weeks of playing, everyone has to start somewhere, and even the greats were at your level at one point.

Playing guitar with a friend after a short lessons that really opened up her understanding of the instrument. I taught her a scale and was playing chords for her to improvise over.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Am I going to be able to dedicate at least a few hours a week to practice?

What am I looking to get out of taking lessons?
