About Malcolm
Application of theory specifically to the guitar...insight as to what students need to work on & help for intermediate guitar players to up their game. Although I can teach beginners, I can help intermediate players who feel stuck to learn the 'neck'.
I play 11 instruments...have played in several rock & country, blues bands and formally have had 6 years piano lessons, 2 years Cello with orchestra, 2 years upright bass violin, the bass I received a scholarship to college. I've took numerous music theory classes, sing, record what songs I've written with whatever instruments I have available. Yeah, I like it, & enjoy helping & enlightening students, passing on what I know.

Evaluating how much they know on the guitar first, & see if they have had any lessons (school/other). Beginners I have to start from scratch & not overwhelm them with more complicated steps that belong in the intermediate stage until they are ready. Some theory involved, but actual playing & hearing is how one learns...so I start with 3 chords & get them playing some songs. This, of course, is what makes it fun.
