About Matt

I'm a full-time professional guitar teacher specializing in adult beginners and young children. I've been teaching for 13 years and in that time have worked with hundreds of students in both group class and private lesson settings, helping them achieve individual goals. I'm Suzuki-certified (a method that is designed to work with very young children).

In short, I love taking beginners (young, old, or in between) and helping them develop technique and comfort while providing a fun environment in which to learn. I've worked with CEOs and celebrities, and enjoy that challenge for different reasons. I also work with more advanced students and while I enjoy that as well, I prefer working with beginners as it's more fun for me to build behavior rather than break it down and reconstruct it.

In terms of personality, I'm incredibly patient, gentle, and encouraging, yet will still push the limits of what you think you can accomplish because discomfort+encouragement=growth. You'll find me very down to earth and kind, and all of my students appreciate that about me.
