About Omer

My approach to teaching violin is non-conservative and non-conventional. It is informed by my knowledge and experience in Jazz, Classical music, Indian music, fiddling and Arabic music. My students of different ages has been showing proven results after practicing and using some of my methods which incorporate a lot of singing, light-motoric exercises and use of imagination.

The part I enjoy the most about the work I do is when I see that the process of playing an instrument starts to affect other aspects of a person's life and personality. Observing how my students develop confidence, self-esteem, creativity and higher self-awareness, supplies my sense of satisfaction and fulfillment from my work as a tutor.

Besides my Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performace from The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, I have been trained in youth leadership, psychology and teaching artistry which all have given me a wide variety of tools I incorporate as a teacher with whichever age group I'm working with.

About the lesson

First few lessons are for getting to know the student and fostering passion for the instrument. I try to learn about their likes and dislikes, their skills and their natural talent. Based on this lessons I can tailor a teaching program that suits best the student's abilities and personality.
