About John
The Music Place has been in business since 1981. It was established by two performing musicians who also enjoy teaching. As we grew we added more teachers until we reached a peak of 17 teachers and 550 students. We also sell Instruments and accessories and do repairs and rentals.
All our teachers are performing musicians that work in local clubs, recording studios and function rooms. They are professional dedicated musicians who enjoy teaching and strive to share their experiences with their students with hopes that they can learn quickly to become better musicians and be able to better express their inner music. Chances are you may have heard them playing when you have gone out socially.
We love to teach beginner as well as advanced students and we can gear your teaching program to what ever style music you are interested in learning.
We look forward to meeting you. Please give us a try. Hopefully you'll find it an enjoyable and fulfilling experience.
The Music Place
We love experiencing the enjoyment students get when they learn something new and can play it in a live situation.
All of our teachers are profesional musiciians and dedicated teachers. They all have attended the various music schools in the area or out of state schools. Berklee, UMass Lowel, New England Conservatory, Boston Conservatory.
You probably have seen them perform in local venues, and function rooms in the area and they work in recording studios producing their own material or as studio musicians for other local artists.

We try to determine the level of the student and create a program that fits for each individual student. We try to teach them the music language so they can have something to be able to communicate their musical ideas with other musicians as well as to have something they can use for the rest of their musical careers. If the student doesn't want to get that serious we try to have some fun playing tunes they're interested in playing while we try to help them understand their instrument so they can develop a better facility and understanding of their instrument.

The Music Place has been really great for both myself, and my 2 boys. The staff are very knowledgeable, and very professional. I would recommend anyone interested in studying any musical instrument, especially drums, and acoustic or electric bass guitar. The teachers are effective for entry level study, but competent even for more advanced students.
The teachers and staff are great! All three of my children take lessons from three different instructors. They are knowledgeable, patient and make learning fun. Highly recommend!!!!
They just don't make music shops like this anymore. Been taking guitar lessons here for just over a year now. My teacher, Doug, is fantastic. Lessons are customized to you and your musical preferences. Lessons are highly enjoyable and makes you want to play constantly. John and the guys are awesome. They always have a smile on their faces. Cant say enough good things about this place. Look forward to my lesson every week. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in taking lessons.
teachers are very easy to work with and let you make mistakes instead of pointing them out and making you feel like you have done something wrong enables you top grow as a musician,
