About Katherine

Hello,

My name is Kate MacMahon. I have a strong passion for teaching guitar from the ages of 4 to 99. Students can learn any style of music such as classical, country, blues rock, folk etc. I also teach how to read music or students can learn tablature. I have a B.F.A. degree with 35 years of experience which includes teaching music at Head Start, the Children's and Women's Hospital in Mobile Al, teaching at community centers and also at performing arts centers.

I enjoy experiencing the satisfaction my students achieve when accomplishing their goals to learn the guitar. My students feel that in addition to learning many songs on the guitar that they are also learning all about music.

I have a B.F.A. degree with 35 years of individual/group guitar teaching. I also have a certification in special ed. to work with special needs children. My experience includes working with the pre- school students and teachers at Head Start along the gulf Coast of Ms and Al. I have also taught music at the Children's and Women's Hospital in Mobile, Al.

About the lesson

The processs for working with a new student first includes determining the level that the student needs to begin with.

Next, the student can choose to learn the classical guitar technique or learn to play with a pick. Songs are also taught during each lesson. Beginner students learn simple and familiar songs. As students progress in their lessons they learn more advanced songs choosings from classical, country, folk, blues, rock etc.
