About Kyle

My teaching approach:

I first believe in establishing a peaceful environment for the student to learn and create in. Music is something that you do not choose, it simply chooses you. I offer a laid back totally judgment free approach to learning and creating on the guitar. I offer my students many different creative approaches to learning and maintaining their craft. I also offer many different insights to over-come any obstacles in the students pursue of the art. I offer a well balanced mix between traditional and non traditional methods. I personally use taylor guitars, and welcome my students to all of my gear.

Modest Mouse, Johnny Cash, The rolling stones, Bob Dylan, Isaac Broc, Bob Marley, Nick Drake.....

I am available most any time during the day and evening seven days a week. Although my schedule is getting more and more busy with lessons and bookings. I believe in quality rather than quantity, so I will not over book myself. It is important to me, to spend ample time with my students so that we are able to reach goals and create together accordingly.

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

First it is important for me as the teacher to spend time knowing first what the student wants to obtain out of the lessons. Is it new styles, writing music, reading music.. What type of commitment is the student going to make to his or her craft? After we have established that I would then have the student go through some simple guitar chord progressions to gauge there understanding of the instrument. We may possibly even run through a few scales. If the student is completely new to the instrument we would spend our time learning the guitar, holding and strumming and maybe learn some chords

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

Typically I let the student dictate where the lesson will go. Depending on the students skill level, ambition, desires all play a factor in how each lesson will go. Usually we will start by simply talking about life and how it relates to the guitar and then begin a warm up of some sort (chord progressions, scales...) After our warm up we would delve into the main lesson plan.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

I do not have an ideal student. It is not realistic. I have learned that in life it is best to have no expectations and see where each moment takes you. All that I ask of my students is to be open to learning, creating and posses some type of passion to learn. You get out what you put in. My only rules are 1. No Judgments 2. Be creative 3. Be Supportive 4. Rock N Roll.
