About Alysa
I have experience as both a music student and teacher that started back when I was 8 years old. I have collected various honors as a musician such as honor bands and making the All-State choir and receiving the National School Choral Award in high school. I also am studying to become a licensed music teacher at Drake University where I have taken child development and learning theory courses while also completing over 40 classroom observation hours to understand how to teach music.
Music is all about personal expression and is an outlet that is so personal to those using it. Seeing students perform and learn about something they are passionate about and that lets them create something out of nothing is truly remarkable.
My mom is a Kindergarten teacher and I grew up in that atmosphere, which ultimately has lead me to want to teach as well. Now I am studying to become a K-12 music teacher for both instrumental and choral music.
I am a sophomore Music Education major at Drake University. I have taken courses in child development and learning theory as a way to understand how to teach children in the K-12 age.
