About Matthew

My teaching approach: I teach lead guitar, rhythm guitar, songs, jamming, songwriting, theory, speed techniques, and more. I am very organized but my main goal is for the student to learn and enjoy the process. There is no pressure and we decide together which direction our lessons will take. I teach you to be able to play solo or with a group as well. I will also teach you how to learn songs yourself and jam with songs on the radio. My influences are: I am influenced classic rock, blues, metal, and folk My guitar lessons take place in: The teacher's studio Guitar Lessons with me take place in the following areas: Los Osos, Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo, My home studio Guitar Techniques: Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Fingerstyle, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Recording and Production, Guidance In Equipment Selection Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: I ask questions and jam a little with you and get to know your level of skill and what you hope to learn in guitar lessons. I show you how I can jam and play a few songs or licks for you. A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: I take notes every lesson. I review the notes prior to the next lesson so we have no time wasted. Lessons will consist of warm up exercises on the guitar neck, some jamming between us, working on a song you want to learn, learning new chords, riffs, licks, and scales, and discussion. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: My ideal student is anyone who wants to play.
