About Katherine

Hello, my name is Katherine Mekis. I am a music therapist as well as a music teacher. I have a bachelors in music therapy and masters in early childhood education. Currently I teach flute, piano, guitar, and adapted music lessons. I have more than 20 years experience working with both special education and typically developing students. As a music major I wanted to share my gift of music by teaching young students. At that time I began teaching private music lessons.

i have a bachelors degree in music therapy and a master degree in early childhood education. I have worked with students with special needs for more then 20 years. I have taught typically developing students for 25 years.

About the lesson

I like to meet with the student and assess their current skill level. Together we discuss what their goals are. I will then suggest music books that would best for them.

I have worked with both children with special needs as well as typically developing students.

I would suggest they meet with the perspective teacher to see if they are a good fit. Ask the teacher what their policy's are and what experience they have.
