About Jon

Hi, I'm Jon!

I 'm a guitarist with over eight years of gigging experience in the UK and in France. I did a diploma at Bimm in 2007. I have played a wide range of styles; from Jazz to The Beatles and from Django Reinhardt to rock and metal.

I try to make lessons as easy as possible - you tell me what you want to learn, or anything you want to work on in your playing and we work through them together at your pace.

We can take as much time as needed - it's important that you feel confident of what you have learned before moving on to new things.

I don't think that the key to becoming good is to sit for seven hours a day playing through scales etc. The most important thing when learning, is to keep it up. As long as you don't give up and keep practicing when you can, you will be able to learn to play guitar!

I think it's just fullfilling to have someone who want's to learn something and for me to be able to help them and show them how to improve and acheive their goals. To be in a position where you are able to help others who share your enthusiasm for something always feels good.

I have always taught ocassionally on the side of gigging, which is my main musical occupation. I have met most of the students at my gigs or at jams where they have asked if I do lessons, which is how I got started.

I did a diploma in contemporary guitar at Bimm in 2007.

About the lesson

We sit down with a nice tea or coffee and talk over what they want to learn and how they want to learn it. I answer any questions that the student may have and then I start the teaching.

I have taught mostly complete beginners to intermediate level players. I am happy to teach any student, whatever level.

Find a teacher that seems to match what you want, then have a lesson or two to see how it goes. Nothing complicated.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Questions to do with travel and availability are important. Anything that the student wants to ask to be honest. It never hurts to ask.

A 1 hour lesson costs £20 with £5 extra for transport costs if I am travelling to the student.
