About Courtney
My instruction style is unique because I have experience as both a competitive gymnast and coach. I try to break down each skill in a way the student will best understand. I am better able to connect with my students because I know exactly the discipline and mindset required to excel in the sport.
I brings me immense joy and pride to see my students reach goals they've set for themselves. I love to see the excitement my kiddos experience when they have a break through or nail a new skill. As long as my students are enjoying their sport and practice, I am happy to help them achieve what they set out to accomplish.
I began my gymnastics training at age three and competed in the sport until age 12. Though I know longer competed, I never stopped flipping and expanding my skill set. I began assistant coaching at age 14 at clinics at a recreational gym in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Almighty Gymnastics. I worked there on and off for many years. Additionally, I worked as the main acrobatic performer for many musicals in community theatre in my hometown of Tulsa. I began teaching consistently in January 2017 at The Little Gym of South East Tulsa, where I taught all levels from 4 months - 12 years. I moved to Chicago in November of last year to begin teaching at The Little Gym of Chicago. I am a trained lead instructor for all levels at my current gym as well.

When I begin to work with a new client, I first like to hear what they hope to achieve by working with a private coach and their personal goals. I then evaluate skill level to see what where the student is developmentally in the sport. From there, we begin to work on those personal goals. I always make sure each student is strong enough execute a skill before performing it, so conditioning is a small part of my process. If the strength is there, I can explain the execution of the skill and move through that process.
