About Deanna

My name is Deanna, and I am a Policing and Investigation graduate (2:1) with strong analytical, literacy and problem-solving skills that I bring into my tutoring. I currently support over 13 students across KS2, KS3 and GCSE Foundation, specialising in Maths, English and 11+ preparation.

I am a calm, patient and supportive tutor who focuses on helping students build confidence alongside their academic skills. Many students I work with initially feel unsure or overwhelmed, but through structured lessons and encouragement, they develop greater confidence, independence and motivation.

I tailor each lesson to the individual student, breaking topics down into manageable steps, providing clear explanations and creating a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves.

I support students with:

• KS2 Maths and English support, including confidence building and preparation for future learning
• KS3 Maths and English, helping students strengthen their foundations and prepare for secondary school challenges
• GCSE Foundation Maths, supporting students to improve understanding and achieve their goals
• 11+ preparation, including Maths, English comprehension, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning

My aim is always to help students feel confident, capable and proud of their progress. I provide clear feedback and communicate effectively with parents so they can understand their child’s development.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach is calm, structured and focused on building confidence as well as academic ability. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, understood and comfortable asking questions, so I create a positive environment where they can make mistakes, learn from them and develop independence.

Every lesson is tailored to the individual student’s needs, learning style and goals. I begin by identifying areas of strength and topics that need improvement, then break concepts down into clear, manageable steps using explanations, worked examples and guided practice. My aim is not only to help students find the correct answer, but to ensure they understand the method behind it so they can apply their skills independently.

A typical 60-minute lesson includes:
• A short warm-up activity to revisit previous learning and build confidence
• Focused teaching of new concepts using clear explanations and examples
• Guided practice with support and feedback
• Independent questions to develop problem-solving skills and confidence
• A final recap to review progress and identify areas to focus on next

I provide personalised feedback and regularly communicate progress so students and parents can understand what is improving and what we will continue to work on.

With experience supporting over 13 students across KS2, KS3 and GCSE Foundation, as well as preparing students for 11+ assessments, I bring a patient, organised and analytical approach to every lesson. My goal is to help every student become a more confident, capable and independent learner.
