About Timothy

I try to connect with students on a human level and keep it relateable. I not only aim to help students understand the material but also have additional tools to research and find information for themselves.

History is litteraly the story of us! It shows us where we have been, where we are possibly going and the why we are going there. History is important and If I can make a student a little bit more excited about learning history and giving them the tools to do so then I have accomplished my goals.

I have always wanted to be a teacher and after getting out of the military I chose to go back to school to be a history teacher. I have always been passionate about history and want to share that excitement with students.

Undergraduate school for History from Grand Canyon University.

About the lesson

I like to talk to the student and get to know a baseline for where they are at with a subject, find out what ways they like to learn, what ways of teaching are not a good fit for them and finding ways to connect with them that work best for them to help them suceed.

Highschool and middle school students mostly.

Find a teacher that is right for you, not all teachers are going to have the teaching style that works best for you. Also keep an open mind to what the teacher is saying.

I had a student who wasn't that in to history tell his parents after one of our sessions that there isn't boring history only boring history teachers. This is one of my sayings, I find it a sucess when a student comes away liking history a little better.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are those needs? Does the student need more technical help or do they just need a coach and mentor to cheer them and guide them through the material? Do they need help with understanding the material or do they need help with techniques on finding the answers? Most importantly what is the desired end result ?

Mr. V. tutored my son for ap world history. He was both energetic and exited to teach, I learned some things second hand from my son telling me how the lessons were going. Mr. V. taught my son about the material but also tips and tricks to help make it easier to remember or find through the computer. My son ended up with a B+ and I don't think he would have done have as good if it wasn't for the extra help.

25 dollars an hour with preferably 3 to 5 lessons minimum, I find anything less than that and the student won't get much out of the sessions.
