About Justin
"AP is hard." That's what I tell my students at the beginning of every year. AP European History students are expected to learn over 500 years of history without a strong background knowledge, especially if the student is a sophomore. Here's how I do it:
1. I cut out the unnecessary info. I know the standards (I teach the class myself), and more importantly, I know what's NOT in the standards. I only teach the "meat and potatoes" of the content.
2. I help student connect. Knowing history in AP is not as important as critically thinking through history.
3. I help students with writing and reading skills that will be useful on their school tests, as well as their AP test at the end of the year.
4. I teach with energy. I don't just read information, I perform it.
5. I add humor. I've found that humor is the most engaging way to teach history.
I am a current AP European History teacher (and have been for 6 years).
I am a currently getting my Master's in European History.
