About David
I earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in History from the University of Texas at Tyler. I graduated cum laude for my 4 year degree. As a graduate student, I graduated with a 4.0 GPA. I live and breathe History.
Having taught for 11 years in small east Texas school districts, I have taught primarily to classes under 12 students. A low number of Student to Teacher ratio has prepared me to work well as a tutor to individuals or small groups. I have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and those who possess varied learning styles or skill sets. Together we will develop the best lessons for each student's learning potential.
My goal is to help young people discover how and why History is relevant to today. In turn, my students will have the tools to anticipate how History will shape their future.

I begin working with new students by asking them general questions about their education. Subjects they like or dislike and why. Ask about the subjects they excel in or struggle with. I then ask them some broad based questions related to historical themes that they should based what our state board of education established for their age and grade level. All of this helps me assess a student's perception of his educational development. It informs me about their grasp of our subject matter. And it helps me plan how the student needs to address our subject based on her learning style and academic skills strengths.
