About Sarah
I love sharing my passion for history and social studies with my students! What is best is when students realize that history is fun and interesting, and not just boring facts and dates.
I have a BA in anthropology with a minor in American history. I was in the history honors society at my university. My favorite thing was leading history and other social studies study groups with my peers, and doing projects to give presentations.
With my degree, I have been working as an archaeologist in the Rocky Mountains and southwest for the last 4 years. I have on-the-ground experience with real, living history!
I have done some traveling. I have visited Egypt, India, Mexico, and Canada. I have also traveled extensively here in the US.
I look forward to bringing history and social studies to life with you!
As a college student I often facilitated study groups of my peers, or helped mentor less fortunate students. I also served as a teaching assistant for a number of semesters.
As an archaeologist I have also often been tasked with conveying information from my field of study to the general public. This process involves a simplification of concepts and ideas, combined with interpersonal skills, to make the information more attainable for people.

First we set goals. What do you want to get out of tutoring. Are you trying to get better grades? Prepare for tests? Learn studying skills? A timeline will be established for working towards these goals.
We will need to determine strengths and weakness within the subjects.
The student will be assessed to determine what type of learning will work best for them. Learning types include visual, auditory, or kinetic (hands-on), or a combination of all three. Knowing the type of learning that works best for the student helps them with both information retention.
A study plan will be created which outlines the topics formation, goals, and timeline.
The study plans are always tentative and are subject to change based on a student's progress, and will be reassessed on a regular basis.
