I helped instruct PTSD Vets, w/therpy equestrian horses for summer of 2017
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Been around horses all my life. Used to have three of my own.
2018 I worked with PTSD Veterans for a summer training Vets to ride horses.
I am not a certified equestrian instructor.

In the beginning, developing a kinship between the student and the horse. After the student has become comfortable with the horse, very important is horse care.
Horse grooming is the next step to insure a good relationship between student and horse.
In the beginning, developing a kinship between the student and the horse. After the student has become comfortable with the horse, very important is horse care.
Horse grooming is the next step to insure a good relationship between student and horse.
Student learns the tools/body brush, currycombs, hoof pick, mane & tail combs, water brush, sponges, and sweat scraper all fits in a water bucket.
The student will learn what each tool is used for and learn to use it on the horse. This take time (should not be rushed), to do and should be repeated at least once everyday.
Student not riding as of yet, will learn horse tack.
Student will learn horse tack starting with the saddle and its parts, saddles, stirrups, bridles, halters, reins, bits, harnesses, martingales, breastplates and equipping a horse is often referred to as tacking up.
Student will learn how to equip a horse with tack, learning the importance of the withers and how the blanket and saddle sits on the horses back. Removing halter, fitting headstall and bit in mouth, this practice several times to learn to feel.
I time the student will learn to mount the horse and learn to ride in a pen. This takes several days depending on experience of the student.
With in three to four days from greeting and meeting the horse the student will have their first trail ride.
