About Katrine

I have lesson horses where a lot of trainers don't. I also train horses and have started a non profit arm of my business rescuing horses, retraining and rehoming them.

I love horses and I love sharing my passion for these wonderful animals with others. I enjoy helping beginning riders build their equestrian and horsemanship skills through centered riding techniques. I also enjoy Horse Psychology and Hippotherapy that helps horses and humans be better teams.

As a 4H junior leader I had several people asking me to train their younger children because I was a very successful rider, showman, and trainer. I enjoyed teaching people and it gave me reasons to learn and seek ways to improve myself so I could help them improve as well. I also often needed to help people ride better after I trained their horses so they would better understand how I had training their horses to go.

My degree is in Recreation Management and work background is in Non-profit managment. I have been riding horses since I was very little taking lessons from people all over Washington. I started training horses when I was in High School and started giving lessons when I got out of college. I am a 4H leader and have training to help youth work with their horse projects.

About the lesson

All student start and the ground and work their way up either on my horses or their own from grooming, to saddling, to ground work to riding. We start riding on a longe line in a round pen, then move to off the line in the round pen until control is maintained at all gates (walk, jog/trott, lope/canter). Then we move outside the round pen to larger arenas and potentially out to the trails.

I work with children and adults beginners to intermediate riders. After they are expert riders I generally refer them on to even more experienced trainers. I do prefer children to be 8 years of age or older so they have the balance, strength and concentration to ride and progress faster on a horse.

Find a teacher that helps you ride any horse with foundation skills not just their horse or yours for that matter. A true equestrian should be able to ride a variety of horses and apply the skills they have been taught to each horse.

Details

I charge $40 per hour for an individual 1 hour lesson or people can pay for 4 lessons in advance for a price of $150. Group lessons are $15 per person but riders must provide their own horses for lessons.
