About Peter
My knowledge of Latin grammar and translation is where my service stands out. I am a rising Sophomore in college, but I have been translation works of college level difficulty for years. Even this past year as a Freshman in college I studied and kept up with Seniors majoring in the subject. So, I already have a wealth of experience in translating poetry, prose, and plays and I would love to share that with any students interested in the subject!
I have been studying Latin for 9 years and in that time I have only casually tutored peers and friends, but I find that work more satisfying than almost any other work I've done. I have earned a number of both silver and gold medals from the National Latin Exam, I have earned some of the highest honors on both the Latin SAT Subject Test and the AP test. I can confidently say there is not a subject which I have put more time and energy into in my life and my love for the language has not waned. Figuring out a tough translation is like solving a puzzle and it is incredibly rewarding to help someone solve that puzzle for themselves. Learning grammar can seem more tedious and frustrating sometimes, but it is obviously necessary and it offers its own merits. Latin grammar can actually offer insights into better understanding different aspects of the English language and other romance languages which makes learning it feel more useful. Overall, I can find a multitude of reasons to enjoy studying any aspect of Latin and I cannot wait to share that with students!
