About Joana

Joana leads vinyasa flows that reflect the nature of life- fun, sometimes challenging and with moments of great pleasure. Joana's background in holistic health becomes transparent as the lessons you learn on the mat are easily translated to the situations of daily life. Joana teaches from the heart space, leaving you with a warm feeling after each practice. Through a balance of strengthening poses, mobility challenges, and finding stillness, she turns each class into a movement meditation which calms the mind and leaves your body fully nourished.

Yoga has totally changed my life. I decided to take my teacher training to better my own practice and then I felt a calling to share my knowledge with others in the hopes of changing their life, too. :-) Yoga has been the most powerful tool of my life.

I am a registered yoga teacher, with a completed certification. I have a background in holistic nutrition, studying at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, where I have helped others better their lives by creating healthy habits in their daily life- through implimenting mindful movements, plant foods and meditation. I am also currently studying to become a personal trainer, which is already adding great anatomy awareness (and more!) to my yoga teaching.

About the lesson

I welcome new students by giving them a general overview of what a yoga practice is, or how they can excpet to better their existing practice. I will also inquire with new students about any physical limitations they may have, and tailor my teaching to make yoga accessible for them.

I have worked with a wide variety of students, from young, fit athletes looking for a power vinyasa to elderly students looking for the gentlest movements (and everything in between.)
