About Melanie
In May 2011, I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Temple University. In August 2015, I graduated from Cabrini College with a Master’s Degree in Education, along with obtaining a Reading Specialist certification. In March 2020, I became a certified Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner.
In order to meet the literacy needs of your scholar, I will be utilizing the Wilson Reading System (WRS). WRS is a reading and spelling program used in schools throughout the country to help students who have reading difficulties. As a structured literacy program based on phonological-coding research and Orton-Gillingham principles, WRS directly and systematically teaches the structure of the English language. Through the program, students learn fluent decoding (reading) and encoding (spelling) skills to the level of mastery. This comprehensive program provides multisensory, structured instruction in all five areas of reading (phonemic awareness, word structure/phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension) plus spelling.
Thank you so much for allowing me to provide tutoring services for your child. I anticipate that your child, like so many others, will improve his/her reading and spelling skills during our time spent together.
