About Charlotte

I’m entering my senior year at Washington State University, Go Cougs! I had the opportunity to do Running Start in high school, taking college classes to allow me to graduate early, so following my graduation in December of 2024, I’ll be studying abroad in Paris! French was my first language as my entire family lives in France, so language and culture as always been a huge element of my life!

At WSU, my major is history, with a minor in English, to pursue a career in secondary teaching. I would love to teach history and English for middle or high school students. I’ve had around 3 years of teaching/tutoring experience, at the elementary, middle, and college level. For the elementary and middle school students, I focused on writing and reading skills, for both English-speaking and English language learning students. These tutoring experiences were often one-on-one, allowing for open communication and learning at their pace, with guided instruction. At the college level, I had the chance to teach a 100-level French speaking class at Washington State.

Ever since I played teacher in my room with stuffed animals, I’ve always been fueled by the idea of sharing and fostering passion for learning in others. Finding curiosity and enthusiasm in academic contexts isn’t always an easy path, but I believe with the right support, there are topics of enjoyment for everyone in school environments. My teaching approach I’ve found the most effective and engaging are the application of critical thinking skills, in both English and history lessons. Finding and applying real-world connections when learning allows students to retain information the best, and bridges together various subjects and perspectives. My hope with tutoring with Wyzant is to help students view learning as an opportunity that is engaging rather than dreadful, providing them with the resources and knowledge to succeed and feel confident doing so outside of our sessions.
