About the lesson
I base most of my classes on whatever the student is currently learning at school or whatever they may be struggling in so they can get the extra support they need. I try to align my classes with the current topic being taught in the student’s school as to avoid confusion and reinforce the skills being taught to the maximum extent. Supplemental work is also provided every class period and may range from practice questions to questions taken directly from past State/Regents Examinations to familiarize students with testing material and conditions.

I am a college student at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan. I’m fluent in both English and Spanish. I’m an experienced tutor and after school teacher, as I’ve tutored and provided homework help to kids from K-7 as an after school teacher in Queens, NY for the past 3 years. During the summer months, I specialize in eliminating the learning gap that often times occurs during long vacations as students begin to forget about what they’ve learned the past year in school and end up going back in September only to realize they’ve fallen behind because the lack of practice for 2 months straight. With summer tutoring your child will not only reduce their summer learning gap but also be well prepared in advance for the following grade level, and will start off in a better position than most other students. As a tutor, I’ve helped students improve their grades and overall academic performance, while also providing students in 3rd to 8th grade preparation for their NYS Common Core State Exams. However, I am also qualified to work with high school students on Regents Test Prep and provide academic support to their coursework as I graduated high school with an Advanced Regents Diploma. As an after school teacher, I’ve been fingerprinted, background checked, and certified by the NYC Department of Education to work with school children. Professional references are available upon request.
