About Emily
My teaching focuses on empowering women, providing the tools necessary to build self-confidence, and learn self defense while enduring a challenging, fun workout. I am passionate about the science of boxing, and the art of eight limbs, otherwise known as Muay Thai. I have over 8 years training in both boxing and kickboxing, and 7 years teaching both one-on-one and group classes. I hold an amateur record in competitive Muay Thai, and continue to train and teach in my spare time when I am not working with the Navy or studying as a student at San Diego City College. I have decided to exclusively gear my passion in this sport toward the empowerment of women working together, while elevating the confidence and safety of the female community in San Diego.
I fell in love with the sport and was asked by the owner of my former gym to start teaching classes because I was natural at it. It keeps me on my toes and I'm always learning while teaching others.
I am a certified boxing coach through the Box 'N' Burn Academy in Santa Monica, Ca. I have experience teaching large group classes and private lessons for over 7 years in a boxing/kickboxing gym. I have also trained Muay Thai at a competitive level, and train American Boxing.

I ask if they have any injuries or disabilities that might limit them to some exercises. I ask about the student's goals and what they are trying to accomplish. I ask if they have any experience in martial arts, and if they are currently active. I cover fundamentals of boxing/kickboxing, footwork, technique, and padwork. Once the student has a basic understanding of the technicalities, I incorporate boxing warmups, exercises, and conditioning methods to help build the student's endurance while having fun and getting an awesome workout. Boxing/Kickboxing will always be incorporated in every session which helps with technique and is a killer workout!
Kids ages 5+ to adults up to 70 years old. Beginner to advanced levels of experience.
Make sure they have a background in coaching, not just fighting! Not everyone can teach. Also, do your research with who you are thinking of hiring. A vetted coach should have some sort of website, social media, or pictures/videos that can provide you with a sense of their teaching style and experience.
