About John
With my students, I emphasise practice problems and repetition. I challenge my students to think through the problems and learn from mistakes. Fixing mistakes in practice leads greater grasp of material!
As my a tutor, I view my student's grade as if they were my own. Nothing makes me happier than when one of my students improves their learning abilities. I have been tutoring in Chemistry and Physics for a year, and all of my students have increased their exam scores.
Throughout my student life I have always enjoyed helping other students to succeed in the same classes I was in. I started tutoring more professionally with my cousin who was an IB student. Afterward I felt called to provide services for other students who wanted to improve their learning.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Virginia Tech in 2017, I also am currently enrolled in Georgia Tech seeking a Chemical Engineering Degree. I have been tutoring students in Physics and Chemistry for the last year in person, and online.

The first thing I do with a new student is go over a quick review lesson for whatever they are working on at that time. Then we will move on to practice problems where I "test" the students knowledge and try to find out where they are struggling and where they aren't. I then provide more assistance in the areas that are confusing.
I have mainly worked with high school students in accelerated AP/IB programs, but I also have experience tutoring freshman level chemistry, physics, and math courses.
My best advice is to find a teacher that is patient with you and learns your needs and what you most need help with.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
As a tutor it is always helpful when a student lets me know what specific topics they're covering ahead of time so I can prepare. If the student could ask their teacher for practice problems, that would be a bonus!
