About Mikayla
I am currently a highschool senior. I am number 3 in my class and I am currently taking AP Calculus BC. On the AP Calculus AB exam I scored a 5 and ended with a 95. Now I understand that I am only a student, but that is what makes me prepared for this job. I recently took the courses that I will be tutoring. I have tips and tricks that I used to get an an A+ in all my math classes.
Not only do I recieve good grades, but the students I have tutored in the past have as well. In the last two years I have helped fellow students bring their grades from C's to at A's by the end of the semester. I understand that not everyone learns the same way, therefore I adapt my teaching to each student's individual learning needs. I don't just want you to succeed on tests, but fully understand the material so you can succeed in every math class after.
I started off by tutoring my friends during my freshman year who were struggling with their class. After a few months I had other students asking for help with tests and subjects that they were struggling in. I figured out during this time I was very good at explaining concepts in more than one way to meet every students needs.
I am currently in my senior year of highschool, but I have completed enough credits to have an associates degree in Mathmatics. I have tutored multiple students in my school who struggled with many different math classes. I have tutored students in Honors and CP Algebra 1, Honors and CP Algebra 2, Honors and CP Precalculus, and CP, Honors and AP Calculus AB.

First I talk to the student about their life. I like to get to know them and allow them to get to know me. The more comfortable we are with each other, the better the learning experience.
I have worked with highschool students that ranged from CP classes to AP classes. Some students just needed help with one test or concept, and others needed help with the whole year.
Find a teacher who you are comfortable with and who you can easily understand. As all students learn differently, it is important that the student and teacher have a good line of communication in place.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about the specific concepts and questions they are struggling with. Tutoring is about getting extra help for classes students do not understand. If the student does not verbalize what they are struggling with then the tutor will not know where to provide the most help. I personally also find it helpful for the student to provide me with the matieral they would like to cover before the session so I can plan accordingly.

Mikayla is a great tutor. She always makes sure that I understand by making me explain it to her. She also tries to apply the area of math we’re learning to other lessons or even other real life examples which I find help me understand better. She is very patient and dedicated and I highly recommend.
She helped me with Algebra II and my grade went from a C- to a B+ in a matter of a month.
I have always struggled with math and I always assumed it was because I just wasn’t good at it. After working with Mikayla I realized I just needed it explained a little slower. She worked with me and made sure I understood the math behind the equations instead of just understanding how to solve one question.
She was very relatable since she is also a student. I felt extremely comfortable with her and I was not afraid to ask questions. She worked through the problems with me instead of just explaining them to. As well as giving me practice problems to complete independently to ensure I understood the material thoroughly.

I typically charge $25 an hour with some variations depending on the subject and the families finacial situation. I understand not everyone can affoard tutoring as it can be expensive. I would never want a student to suffer due to financial issues.
