About Esther

I am a college freshman at Emory University. Throughout high school, I always challenged myself academically, which is how I gained experience and knowledge in STEM courses such as AP Chemistry, AP English Language and Composition, and AP Calculus BC.

I have taken around 12 AP tests and have earned the title of "AP Scholar with Distinction." In addition to this, I also got a superscored 36 on the ACT (a composite score of 35) as well as a superscored 1580 on the SAT.

Outside of academics, I also really enjoy partaking in the visual arts, whether it be painting, drawing, or digital art making. I won second place at the Administrator's Art Show in Montgomery Alabama just this past year, and I would love to coach others who are interested in art in how to improve their pieces!

I'm also Korean, so I am glad to tutor anyone interested in learning Korean and to help out any Korean speakers learn English!

Lastly, I work well with students of all ages. I love working with children and can keep them entertained while still educating them efficiently. At the same time, I can work well with people around my age as well (18-19) and provide a more relaxed and casual environment to learn comfortably in. For people who are older than me, one can be assured that I will demonstrate appropriate respect (as I will to all age groups).

This is my first time formally tutoring, and I am so excited to meet you!

I have finished all my years of high school, and I took the highest available courses in each STEM subject and in English courses like AP English Language and Composition.

I have always done art since I was little, and I do have experience in art classes and in AP Studio Art.

Lastly, I am Korean. I grew up in a household where the main language that was spoken was Korean, so I am fairly fluent.

About the lesson

When working with new students, I like to just chat for a bit to get to know them, their personalities, passions, preferred learning styles, and what troubles they're having in that particular course or subject.

Depending on their age level and span of focus, I'll either build lesson plans with activities and practice problems, or I can go through some of their typical content like homework problems or past quizzes that they had trouble with. From then on, I'll continue to tweak and tailor my approach to maximize efficient learning for that particular student.

Details

For more higher level subjects, I would like to maintain at least 80 cents per minute that I am teaching, which would be $48/hour.

For younger children, I would like to keep it around 40 to 50 cents per minute, which would be anywhere from $24 to $30/hour.
