About Kennedi

My name is Kennedi Coats and I studied Elementary Education at Florida State University. I have a passion for teaching because seeing students fully understand a concept and building their confidence in a subject is very rewarding for me.

I identify areas in which a student is struggling using an assessment and create lessons where we practice those areas. My math sessions will be conducted as follows:

1. 5-minute warm-up and one-to-one (socio-emotional checkup).

2. 15-minute concept explanation and modeling

3. 10-minute practice

4. 15-minute concept 2 explanation and modeling (If the child has struggled with the practice, we will practice a new set of problems of the same concept together).

5. 10-minute practice

6. Exit ticket

I teach for understanding, not for only remembering formulas and steps. This way, the student will develop the necessary critical thinking skills for higher-level math. I also try to make math activities as engaging as possible so that students will view math as being fun!

If your child is struggling in math, please don't hesitate to contact me so we can discuss a learning plan for them as soon as possible! I will do my best to help your child reach their goals.
