About Honoka

I enjoy teaching individuals and seeing their excited faces when they are able to solve or understand the problems or concepts of the subject. I have experience teaching kids 6 to 14 years old and helping out students of all ages. I also have experience teaching through helping out my peers during classes.

I started off teaching by helping out my peers in class with both homeworks and classwork and answering questions they had to the best of my ability. Through helping them out I learned how enjoyable it was because it made me happy when they showed a smile across their face when they were able to understand or complete the assignments.

I have experience teaching children not in an educational setting but through gymnastics as a coach. I have experienced teaching kids of all ages, but especially kids ranging from the ages of 5 to 15.

About the lesson

My process usually when working with new students is to start by learning what the student doesn't understand, what they want to understand, and what their personality is as well as how they learn and acquire knowledge the best. After I am able to identify those four key components I decide how I would teach them and make a rough schedule that maps out what I would teach and what I would assume the student would be able to learn. In addition, as I get to know the student and their abilities more I make changes to the schedule and adjust the way I teach to better fit the student.

I have worked with many types of students ranging from visual learners to hands-on learners and from introverted to extroverted individuals.

A good teacher is someone who is able to teach the same subject to both a kindergartener and a high school student. A good student is one who asks questions.

Every teacher is different so there's always a teacher that is right for you.

A student of mine who had been struggling with understanding algebra told me about how they were able to get an A on the recent pop quiz and informed me of how they are starting to enjoy the class more and had started to ask questions and speak up during class.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think some basic questions you could ask yourself before would be the following: what do I know or understand in this topic, what do I don’t know or not understand in this topic and what do I want to learn from my teacher.

Details

I currently do not have a standard pricing system yet but I am thinking about charging around $15 to $40 a lesson depending on the difficulty I would be teaching. Once I get a system in place I will update the information.
