About Laura
I like to make learning a fun experience. Where I teach students techniques to improve their mathematic skills. It is necessary to understand the basics of every topic, to gain solid knowledge and problem-solving skills.

I am passionate about teaching and breaking down complex problems into the pieces necessary to solve them. I love the feeling when the students understand the topics, gain confidence and boost their self-esteem.
During my undergrad I was not only the TA for the Calculus course, but also helped my classmates in subjects like Linear Algebra, Statistics and Physics.
When I became an engineer, I was really passionate about teaching, so I started tutoring for free, students that could not afford to pay for a tutor.
I possess a Bachelor degree and a Master of Science degree in Engineering. In addition, I have 1 year of experience working as a teacher and research assistant at UT. I have been teaching Math, Statistics, Physics and Spanish for over 5 years, and I am well versed in any topics within those subjects.

About the lesson

I tutor the students online, through an application, where we both can write and see on the screen the information that the person is sharing. In addition, we can see and taltk to each other.
First, I introduce myself and ask the student to do the same. Then, I tell the student a little bit about me.
Request the syllabus of the course he/she is taking, and ask about the topics the student is having trouble with.
Make a plan with the student, define a time frame for the student to gain the necessary skills to succeed in class, and share techniques with the student to boost his/her knowledge about the desired topic.
I have worked with kids and adults. Including students from elementary, middle, high school and college.
Look for a teacher that has the passion to teach, someone that cares about breaking down complex topics for the student to become confident about solving them. Look for a tutor with experience, that has gone through the same process of learning.
Volunteer at Feed the Children in Oklahoma City, building boxes filled with food and essentials that will be delivered to families in need across the United States.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The students need to expose their expectations, ask about the teacher's availability. Ask about their methodology to teach and what tools they use to teach the class.
Be clear about your needs, and do not be afraid to stop the teacher and ask any question that comes to your mind (there is never a silly question), ask twice if you consider something is not clear.
