About Tiger

As a recent graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and past tutor/teacher, I feel great fullfilment from watching my students grow not only academically but also as a person. I had been a general academics and college prep tutor for 4 years and a math teacher for 1. I was slated as my high school valedictorian (rank 1), a national merit finalist, and AMC mathematics competition award winner. As a relatively young tutor, I pride myself in being able to relate to my students and deeply understand their various needs.

I started teaching as a result of excelling in academics as a child. I started tutoring my junior year of high school as I had finished my SAT and ACT tests earlier in my sophomore year. As the Mu Alpha Theta (math club) president in my high school and A national merit finalist, more and more students and parents reached out for tutoring.

I had been a individually contracted academics and college prep (PSAT, SAT, ACT) tutor for 4 years and a math teacher for 1. Additionally, I have a bachleor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin.

About the lesson

First, I begin with introductions and gaining initial impression of my student's learning style and habits. Then, I test the general knowledge base of the student. Finally, I ask the student to list all of the things they believe they struggle with the most. With all of these things in mind, I curate a personalized tutoring methodology for the student at hand.

Anywhere from 4th grade up to some college curriculum.

Always make sure there is student-teacher chemistry. If the student does not "click" with the teacher, learning may be noticeably impeded. Also, make sure you know the teacher has the proper qualifications and a proper understanding of the student's goals before proceeding.

One of my students recently finished high school as the valedictorian and a national merit finalist. The amount of gratitude I received from both the student and their parents made me very proud.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
When it comes to students asking their teachers about their needs, transparency is key. To many students, some habits they have may seem inconsequential to them, but to teachers, it may be of utmost importance. It is always important to properly communicate everything before going to deep into teaching sessions.
