About Daniel

I'm Daniel, I'm a senior in high school. I'm currently in 3 AP courses and I have a passion for helping people learn new concepts. I mainly tutor math courses as well as physics, but I also can tutor world history and English. My biggest philosophy in terms of tutoring is that everyone learns differently and trying to place people in a box such as a smart kid or a slow learner is a simply a foolish concept. Having had severe ADHD for all of my life, I can personally attest that learning new things is different for everyone. Being able to help someone learn a foreign concept they are struggling to grasp is probably the most rewarding feeling in any Education career. I've only have 5 months experience with tutoring, but I deeply enjoy it and hope spread my knowledge however I can.

The feeling I get from watching students overcome difficulties in the classroom and succeed is second to none. Also, I've always beleived spreading knowledge is a noble pursuit.

My cousin with learning dissabilities was struggling to grasp some basic math. Math had always been my strongest subject so I volunteered despite the fact that I was a couple yars younger. Since then, I've been able to continue my passion for teaching with other students.

I have tutored for 6 months so far. I've tutored SAT Math as well as Algerbra 2.

About the lesson

First, I try to get to know the student a little better. Then I figure out what the issue they are having is. Once I address it, I can better break it down to explain it to the student.

One student of mine is a Freshman at Pepperdine University. Another is still in 6th grade.

My area of expertise is mainly math. Math might seem like a black and white subject in terms of getting a right or wrong answer, but usually the concepts are just a bit difficult to understand. Ask a lot of questions to make sure that you are ok with the material.

I was able to help raise one of my students SAT scores by just over a hundred points. Seeing such a massive improvement is a rewarding feeling not only for the student but also as a tutor, knowing I caused such a positive change.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Many students often give up before even starting a problem. As a tutor, that shows a lack of effort which is often frustrating. Before you give up think about what you know and try to break the problem apart into smaller parts. If you still need help, most teachers would be more than happy to help.
