About Rebecca (Asa)

Learning the correct technique, learning interests, when the student gets it

I just started tutoring in high school, and I continued to enjoy it.  Even though I list a low-level, I can tutor most maths; I just need syllabi, book, references, etc.

I have tutored for 25+ years.  Before starting the business, I would do it for free.  I have worked with students of all types, high-functioning mostly.  Help me, help you: my motto.

Find out interests.

Find out what has worked for them.

Find out what has not worked for them.

Look at the syllabi and everything they have for the course.

Make them feel comfortable.

High-functioning (e.g. HF autism, ADHD)

Students willing to learn

Look for someone that is willing to discover what method of teaching works for you.  Let the teacher know if you need the steps broken down further.  Let the teacher know if you need different examples all the time, or if you can study the ones that are worked through.  Ask if the teacher can find you free resources.

A student in college algebra was failing.  I got her to enjoy the math and pass the course.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What are strengths?  What are weaknesses?  What has worked for you?  What has not worked for you?  What method do you think would work best for you?  Would you be willing to trust the teacher?  Would you be honest with the teacher?
