About Mirah

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Boston University. I believe that there is no boring subject, only dull teachers. During college, I did best in class when the teacher was engaging and enjoyable. I try to bring these qualities to my tutoring approach. I value the student's feedbacks and customize classes towards his/her learning style.

I focus on all things STEM-related, Chinese, and helping ESL students. Moving to the states since high school, I experienced both the Chinese and English education system and trying to utilize the advantages of these two methods.

I have two years of tutoring experience with math-related subjects. I started tutoring students in after-school sessions to go over the topic taught in class and the homework problems. In college, I also lead studies sessions on subjects like linear algebra.

Chinese, though my native tongue, wasn't always easy for me. I had trouble with the Mandarin Pinyin because of the influence of two dialects (Cantonese and Hubeinese) spoken at home. I had to take private lessons from the teacher to understand and pronounce pinyin. Once I learned the system, I excelled at Chinese and became the elected TA for the next consecutive 9 years. I want to help students ranging from absolute beginners who want to focus on the basics, to experts who wish to further their understanding of classical ancient Chinese literature.

As an ESL student myself, I understand the testing system from my experiences. I want to help more students like me to know how the testing systems works, the test-taking techniques, and ways to improve their skills.

I want to help the students success in their academic career as much as possible and welcome any constructive feedback from the students and the parents. I am easy to reach and quick to respond. Feel free to message me about any further questions or schedule a lesson!
