About April
Hello, my name is April and I am a computational biologist who is passionate about science education. My specialties include molecular biology, genetics, and microbiology, as well as bioinformatics programs and programming in the context of data science (R, bash).
As a university-level Teaching Assistant at Caltech I developed lesson plans and held sections for several biology courses. I also wrote and graded assignments and exams designed to build and assess critical thinking skills and apply course concepts to practical applications such as experimental design. Through my experience tutoring high school students and explaining my graduate level research to audiences of all education levels I have also honed my ability to break down complicated concepts to a level anyone can understand.
