About Andrew
With the right support and guidance, we all can thrive learning a new subject. I use a patient and encouraging approach to help my students break down and solve problems. The results show it! Many of my students improve by a full letter grade by the end of the first month.
I tutor high school and college level math, physics, and computer science courses.
I find joy in those eureka moments - the times when a student finally "gets" it. I follow those moments with a smile and words of affirmation. Those are the moments you know they will thrive!
I started teaching when I was a student in college becoming a physics teaching assistant for two years during my undergraduate studies.
Now, as a working professional, I take time to tutor students in the evenings and on weekends out of my passion for helping others learn.
I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and have many years of experience tutoring college, high school, and middle school students.

I first try to understand the students learning style and gauge how I can best support them and their parent. It's helpful to reivew their curriculum, so that we can build a plan for working together. I find setting clear guidelines for our time together helps establish a good relationship. Some examples are "be ready to tutor on time" and "no using the cellphone unless it is an emergency or for checking answers".
I have worked with undergraduate students taking foundational math and physics courses as well as high school students in math, science, and social studies classes. I have worked with students with learning disabilitie, specifically ADD and ADHD.
