About Natalie

My name is Natalie Lovell, and I am a graduate of St. Scholastica Academy in Covington, LA, and a current junior at Mississippi State University. I have been tutoring for four years now, and enjoy working with students of all ages on everything from STEM material to ELA to standardized testing preparation! In addition, I have scored in or above the 95th percentile on standardized testing from first grade through high school, including state assessments, and consistently scored in the 98th percentile on college preparatory assessments such as the PSAT and ACT. I maintained a GPA of 3.97 unweighted throughout high school (4.5 weighted) and am currently working through my biochemistry and molecular biology coursework with a 3.44 at my university. I am quick to respond, current on the course materials being taught in schools, and have experience working with a variety of learning styles. I have worked with students with autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, and various learning disabilities, and am always open to finding new ways to make course material engaging and easy to understand! It is important to me that students are able to work within their own learning styles to arrive at an answer, rather than being forced to take a specific course of action to get there. I welcome parental feedback and am happy to share weekly or daily updates on our progress!

I got started tutoring through a school community outreach program, and then began and expanded my personal clientele from there.

I am a National Merit Commended Scholar and an AP Scholar. I was an Honors, AP, and Dual Enrollment (Louisiana State University) student in high school, and graduated with a 3.9 unweighted cumulative GPA. I have a 34 composite score on the ACT with a perfect sub score in both Reading and English. I have also placed first in Divisional English and Grammar Competition. I will be beginning my undergraduate studies at Mississippi State University as a Biochemistry major this fall. I have tutored in K-12 subjects as well as test prep for two years.

About the lesson

With an incoming student, I typically treat the first session as an evaluation. Often in math and English areas, the student is missing some foundational lessons that, once learned, can greatly speed up the learning process. Once I have a better understanding of what skills and knowledge they already have, as well as their learning style, I create a plan one-on-one with the student outlining how we will work toward achieving their goal.

I have worked with both homeschooled students and students enrolled in private school, and am hoping to begin working with students in public school. Many of the students I work with struggle with ADD/ADHD and other learning obstacles.
