About Wendy
I have 17 years of experience as a math teacher and 6 years of experience teaching AP physics at the high school level. I am a former scientist with a BS in physics and a masters in math ed. I have spent my teaching career trying to find effective ways of connecting students with content. I do this daily in my classroom working with all levels of students and learning abilities.
I decided to pursue a career that would allow me to spend as much time with my son as possible and found I had a passion for it!
I have teaching certifications in both secondary math and physics as well as classroom experience teaching both. Chances are if its taught in a high school math classroom, I have taught it. I also have a BS in physics and a MS in education with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction.

I like to find out where the student is struggling and what they hope to accomplish with a tutor. Are they simply looking for a small learning boost are do they have longer range goals?
I have worked with all types of students from struggling to advanced AP students. I have also worked with special Ed, ESL and dyslexic students.
Are you comfortable with their methods and what strategies do they have to help you figure things out on your own once the tutoring session is done?
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. Where am I having trouble? Is it one specific topic or many?
2. What do I really want the teacher to do for me - give a few hints or explore new ways of approaching the problems that might make more sense to me?
3. How much time do I have to devote to tutoring?
