About Theresa

I am dual certified in elementary education grades 1-6 and students with disabilities. I have taught and tutored several grade levels from Kindergarten- High School. The first session begins with an assessment of skills to determine the student's areas of strength and need for improvement. My program incorporates communication with the student's teachers in order to effectively motivate and improve performance.

I have been working in the education field since my children were in pre-school. They are now in high school and college. My pedagogical philosophy is based on building a student's confidence in a trusting environment. Students learn in various ways and each have a strength or interest that motivates them. When students improve in an area of need or realize their potential while working through a struggling topic it is rewarding for the teacher and student.

I am a dual certified teacher in elementary and students with disabilities grades 1-6 with tutoring experience to grade 10. In addition, I taught an enrichment science program for Middle Schoolers for three years and a 21st Century reading and project based activity program for four years.

About the lesson

We start with an intake assessment to determine the student's areas of strength and need for improvement. Once evaluated I create a program to suit the student's needs blended with activities to motivate the student. I initiate communication with the student's teacher(s) and provide progress updates weekly.
